Après avoir terminé leur échelle de pH avec des exemples uniques, cette activité demandera aux étudiants de classer différentes substances dans les trois catégories suivantes: acide, neutre et base. C'est un excellent organisateur graphique que les étudiants peuvent utiliser comme point de référence pour le reste de l'unité.

Pour rendre cette activité plus stimulante, demandez aux élèves de rechercher différentes substances à classer dans chaque catégorie au lieu de leur fournir la liste incluse dans les instructions. Encouragez-les à en sélectionner au moins sept et essayez de trouver ceux qui sont moins connus. Pour prolonger cette activité, les élèves peuvent lister les substances par ordre de pH, de la plus acide à la plus basique.
