- My name is Anton Van Leeuwenhoek. I am a Dutch shopkeeper.I looked at pond water and barrel drained water. I saw things swimming in the water. I called them wea beasties, now known as protist.The tool I used was a simple microscope.

- My name is Robert Hooke. I am a English Scientist. I looked at plant cells from a cork tree. I saw small boxes and called them cells. They looked like the rooms monks lived in. The tool I used was a compound microscope.

- Technology has improved and so has the types of microscopes.The magnification has gotten greater.
