  • TAX ON TEA3 cents per lb
  • The sugar act enforced strong custom duties on sugar and other imported goods because sugar smuggling had increased a ton.
  • Boston Masacre
  • The British Parliament directly taxed the colonists and imposed tax on all paper documents, but claimed they, themselves could only be taxed by their own representative groups.
  • Boston Tea Party
  • British Parliament put a tax on goods that were imported to American colonies.
  • Intolerable Acts
  • The British Soldiers came to intimidate the colonists. Once too many colonists showed to fight, the soldiers began firing their guns on command, killing 5 colonist.
  • The Boston Tea party was a protest against taxation without representation. Colonists dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor.
  • The British used force to deal with anyone who agreed with or followed along with the Boston Tea Party. The British would cover the colonist in tar and pour feathers on them which stuck to their skin. The force fed them hot tea.
