  • For the freedom of Cuba!
  • Cuban Missile Crisis
  • At first, America did not want to be involved in the war, until Japan attacked at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii in 1941. Other countries, such as Germany and Italy, also declared war and it became a very messy war. In 1945, America dropped atomic bombs on Japan, causing them to surrender.
  • Vietnam War
  • Castro took over the Cuban government, causing dictatorship and communism. In return, America cut off trade and relations to Cuba. Then, President Eisenhower decided to secretly train Cuban exiles to attack and take back Cuba, but when Kennedy became president, he cut off the air support last minute, causing the Cuban exiles to be defeated.
  • Iran Hostage Crisis
  • Free me!
  • American spies discovered that Cubans were secretly building bases for Soviet nuclear missiles. President Kennedy established a naval blockade on Cuba to prevent Cuban ships for coming to Florida or any other U.S. mainland territory., and even threatened to attack Cuba if they didn't remove the missiles. When they removed the missiles, Kennedy agreed not to attack Cuba, which avoided a nuclear war.
  • September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack
  • North Vietnam had established a communist government, and when South Vietnam had been take over by a dictator with Western ties who didn't allow elections, South and North Vietnam communist began a rebellion against the government. The American government believed that if South Vietnam had become communist, the rest of Southeast Asia would fall, causing lots of world communism. America sent ground troops to Vietnam and caused lots of bloodshed, but retreated.
  • The new government of Iran objected when America let the Shah in the U.S. In return, an angry mob attacked the embassy stationed there and kept them as hostages for more than a year.
  • On September, 11, 2001, airplanes flew into the WTC  in NYC and the Pentagon by Al-Qaeda. The Taliban refused to turn over the mastermind behind it all, Osama bin Laden, and President Bush sent troops to fight in Iraq and easily defeated their army.
