In this scene, Sebastian is confused for Cesario who was challenged in a fight by Sir Andrew and Sir Toby for being the one Olivia loves.
Act 4, scene 2
Help! It's dark!
Sebastian and Sir Andrew begin fighting. The clown knows Olivia will be angry to see what's going on so he calls her over to break up the fight.
Act 4, scene 2
Malvolio the lunatic! (4.2.23)
Nay, I prithee put on this gown and this beard; make him believe thou art Sir Topas the curate. (4.2.1-4)
HELP!
Olivia grabs Sebastian who she also mistakes for Cesario. She invites him to her home, and because of her beauty, Sebastian accepts her offer and follows her,
Act 4, scene 2
Nay, I'll ne'er believe a madman till I see his brains. I will fetch you light and paper and ink. (4.2.119-20)
Sir Topas, please believe me!
Meanwhile, the practical joke on Malvolio continues. He is trapped in a dark room with no windows.
The clown dresses up in a disguise as Sir Topas to convince Malvolio that he has gone mad.
Malvolio tries to convince Sir Topas that he has not gone mad by asking to have a test done to prove he is not lying or write to Olivia to explain the misunderstanding.
