טקסט Storyboard

  • Well Matt, its something called Newton's First Law of Motion. The law states that if an object is at rest, it stays at rest unless a force is acted on it or if the object is in motion, it stays in motion unless a force acts on it.
  • Hey Anna, so how is that ball just sitting there? Like how come it can't move by its self?
  • So, the ball will just stay there unless a force puts it into motion. and then it'll just stay in motion until another force stops it? Doesn't inertia help the ball stay still?
  • Yeah! The more the mass, the more the inertia. That's why its harder to push or stop larger objects than smaller one.
  • Oh I know that! It's Newton's Second Law of Motion! Acceleration depends on mass and force being applied of an object.
  • Matt, do you see that car over there? It needs more acceleration due its mass. It also needs more force applied.
  • Since the car has a large mass, it needs a bigger force applied which will cause an increase in acceleration.
  • Well force does equal mass x acceleration, so they all have to be related.
  • Like when a baseball is hit with a bat. Th ball hits the bat with a force and the bat hits back with the same force.
  • While we're sitting here, our weight is a force that is exerted on the chair and the chair is exerting force back to us. The force is equal and opposite to the first.
  • Yup! For every action, there is a reaction. The reaction has the same amount of force but in the opposite direction.
  • That's Newton's Third Law of Motion! Thanks for explaining all the laws to me Anna!
