- Mr. Hoo's overall traits: Stern, Grumpy, and Asian. Hates Mr. Westing, and hates his son Doug. "(Except for the grumbling Mr. Hoo)" (Raskin 6). Mr. Hoo is an Asian American who is not grateful for many things, and hates Westing and Doug; his son.
- Hoo's strongest personality trait: Grumpiness // Anger. "(except for the grumbling Mr. Hoo)" (Raskin 6). Mr. Hoo is most likely the grumpiest and saddest character in the entire story. He shows very little emotion to others, is rude, and doesn't care for basically anything.
- Character Trait in The Beginning of The Novel: Grumpy. "(except for the grumbling Mr. Hoo)" (Raskin 6). Mr. Hoo stays grumpy for a lot in the beginning of the story. He hates Mr. Westing and is not happy about anything.
- Character Trait in The Middle of The Novel: Still Grumpy. "Some game, Mr. Hoo Grumbled," (Raskin 96). Mr. Hoo is still grumpy since the beginning of the story and in this example he is complaining about Sam Westing's Game.
- Character Trait in The End of The Novel: Selfish. "'At least the guilt is not on our hands,'" (Raskin 154). Mr. Hoo is selfish in the end of the story because he is saying that he is glad that he isn't arrested and guilty of murder, while Crow is taken. He doesn't care for someone who he has worked with the figure out who the murderer is because he is the grumpy and selfish Mr. Hoo.
