- Atticus can't do anything, he just reads all day.

- One winter day, a mad dog walks up the main street, and everyone is scared
- Take the shot, Atticus
- He can't shoot, can he?

- Atticus kills the dog in one shot. Jem and Scout see a new side of their quiet father.

- Later, Jeam and Scout pass the malevolent Mrs. Dubose, who insults Atticus for defending Tom Robinson.
