- So as you can see, we're cancelling out the square root by squaring the whole equation

- Errors is when you make a mistake, while extraneous is when you do everything correct but still get an answer that doesn't work out even when plugged in. Know the difference or else. It's gonna be on the TEST.

- To start off, I'd like to mention the fact that if you see something square rooted, or cube rooted, you can rewrite it into fraction form depending on what kind of root it is.

- Oh... So, for example, as shown on the board, like-- something that's square rooted can be rewritten as the equation to the power of 1/2? Or something that's cube rooted can be placed to the power of 1/3?

- Yeah! You're understanding it! Now, we can use this for the equation on the next side.

- For example, in this question, to solve, you can add one to the other equation, then place it to the power of 3 to get rid of the cube root on the other side of the equation.

- So.. that would make it -1.. and then the answer is 3x + 2 = -1.. so we subract 2.. then we get 3x = -3 then divide.. and we get.

- Uhh.. So for the first question, we can square the equation to get rid of the square root..
- No way he gets this..

- Then.. we get 2x + 6 = x^2 + 6x + 9.. We subtract 2x, and minus six, then we get 0 = x^2 + 4x + 3

- Then we factor it, and get (x+3)(x+1) then we get x = -1 and x = -3..

- If we plug in -1, the equation works out, so it is neither extraneous or a mistake, same goes with -3.
- Whatever! Go back to your seat right this INSTANT.

- Ok so first.. We just square root everything right? To get rid of the square root. So we square root.. and end up with 4f^2 = 4f^2 + 6f - 12
- (2f)(2f) = 4f^2 + 6f -12

- Come on.. Now we just need something that cancels out the -12 through multiplying 6, we can just use two! The answer is two!
- 4f^2 = 4f^2 + 6f -12
- 0 = 6f - 12
- f = 2
