טקסט Storyboard

  • Little Rock Nine(1957): After Brown vs Board of education 9 African American students tried to practice their right to go to school at an all white school. They were met with much resitance including from the state governemnt. The federal government had to be involved and made it possible for them to go to school.
  • It's Our School!
  • Go away!
  • Montegumory Bus Boycott(1955-56)-This movement was started by Rosa Parks, a secretary of NAACP, refused to move from her seat and was arrested. This started a bus boyott until it was deemed unconstitutional to have buses segregated.
  • We're not going to ride the bus anymore!
  • No more segregation on the busses!
  • Freedom Rides(1961)-The Montegomery Bus Boycott inspired ths protest. THis group of protestors rode from D.C to Louisanna(unfortunatley they did not make it Louisanna and instead stopped in Jackson, Missippippi) The protestors made multiple stops and were attacked countless times. This movement sparked even more protests.
  • Get out of here!
  • What do you think you're doing!
  • The Selma March(1965)-This is not the only march that happened during the Civil Rights movement but it was one of the most brutal. Police attacked protestors who were simply walking on the sidewalk, completely legally. THis march sparked legisiglation as well as other protests to begin to take form.
  • We will fire. You do not have the right to be here.
  • Black Power Movement- This movement was mostly run by young African Americans, most of them being in college. They had a more violent approach to protesting. They would carry guns and would fight back against the violence the police would use. They were tired of being punch in the face and being uable to fight back, something that happened during the Selma March.
  • We'll make you listen to us!
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965- With the passage of the voting rights act African Americans now no longer faced any form of legal reparations against voting. It got rid of things like literacy tests, poll taces, etc. Even though it got rid of legal restrictions there was still some resitance to African Americans receiving equal rights. But it was a step in the right direction.
  • Our voting rights are now protected by law!
