The fear of communism is a major source of concern in the United States. We are concerned that a nuclear war will erupt.
For a variety of reasons, stalin lacked faith in Churchill and Roosevelt. When russia was poised to terminate the war, for example, Churchill and Roosevelt did little to assist stalin.
During WWII, the Soviet Union suffered a higher number of casualties. This may have been prevented if Russia had provided greater assistance.
The Soviet Union desired a buffer between themselves and Europe; Europe perceived this as an attempt by the Soviet Union to extend its territory as well as the spread of communism.
The United States opted to develop an atomic bomb. This was seen as a threat by other countries. It would not have been a problem between countries if the usage had kept this a better secret.
