- The Stamp Act was the first direct tax the Parliament placed on the colonists. In the year of 1764, Britain put taxes on many things such as newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, broadsides, legal documents, dice, and playing cards. These taxes were enacted to raise money for Great Britain.
- The Townshend Act was a series of British acts of Parliament. These acts involved taxes on items like lead, glass, tea, paint, and paper. All these taxations were forced upon colonists during 1767-1768.
