Cell Division

טקסט Storyboard

  • Mitosis and Meiosis are processes of nuclear and cell divisions. They both happen in cells. They both also go through phases called PMAT. However meiosis creates sex cells while mitosis does not. Mitosis creates cells that help you grow. Mitosis also repairs the body.

  • Prophase
  • Mitosis: prophase , metaphase , anaphase , telophase. Meiosis: prophase 1, metaphase 1, anaphase 1, telophase 1. Meiosis continued: prophase 2, metaphase 2, anaphase 2, telophase 2. NOTE: interphase is not a part of cell division but is still important for it to happen.
  • Metaphase
  • Anaphase
  • Prophase is the phase when chromosomes come together and form a thick thread like structure. Metaphase is when the chromosomes line up in the middle of the nucleus. Anaphase is when they go away from the center and go on opposite sides of the nucleus. Lastly, telophase is when the nuclei start to form around the chromosomes.
  • Telophase
  • In meiosis there are 8 phases... prophases 1 is when the homologous pair up to form a tetrad. metaphase 1 is when the tetrads line up. anaphase 1 is when the tetrads separate. telophase 1 is when the cell divide and you have one complete set of chromosomes. The second portion of meiosis includes prophase 2 when the chromosomes condense. metaphase 2 is when the chromosomes meet in the middle. anaphase 2 is when the centromeres and chromatids split. telophase 2 is when cytokinesis and formation of the nuclear membrane.
