Hello there earthlings. Today we are gonna travel to space and explore the 4 layers of earth . Come with me!
The earth's crust is the outermost and thinnest layer, where you earthlings live! The continental crust that you humans live on is about 25 miles thick. The crust takes up only 1% of the earth's volume.
The Crust
The second layer would be the mantle. The mantle is the largest layer of earth and it holds 85% of earth's volume. The mantle is roughly 1,802 miles thick. It is made of solid rock.
The Mantle
The outer core is right between the mantle and the inner core. It is roughly 1.400 miles thick. It is made of mostly molten (liquid) iron and nickel. This layer has a fluid layer that moves around the inner core and generates electric currents, which produces Earth's magnet field.
The Outer Core

Last but not least, the inner core. The inner core is the very last layer and is right in the center of earth. The core is about 760 miles thick. It is solid made of metal (mostly iron). Oh and the core is also known as the hottest layer it is as hot as the sun!
