Examples
Gerunds are words that are formed with verbs but act as nouns. They’re very easy to spot, since every gerund is a verb with ing tacked to its tail.
Mikaela and Francis are leaving China.
Are you cutting all my hair?
As with present participles, sometimes we double a final consonant when making a gerund.
Some examples are: cooking, meditating, being, having, dancing, philosophizing, etc.
You can turn any verb you want (except a modal verb) into a gerund.
The movie star has a very strenuous fitness routine that involves dieting, jogging, sprinting,running, and lifting weights.
I do not want to be a movie star anymore.
