hi my name is Alex and i am a former slave because of the 13th, 4th, and 15th amendment i am now a freemen. the 13th amendment abolished all slaves, the 14th made everyone equal, and the 15th one let e vote.
since i am now allowed to vote i have to pay poll taxes. which is paying money to vote. which is pretty fair as long as we are all equal.
i am now helping the white people with their land. they said they would give me home and groceries if i did their and for a year, but my friend told me not to do that because they wont path me. this is called sharecropping
the government also just made a new rule that we have to take a test to have citizen ship and they are making the tests harder for black people so we dont pass. that is called the literacy test.
we all also now just learned ab out the black code. the black codes restricted African american rights.
now that slavery is "over" we are all called freemen. freemen are former slaves who are now free. the end
