Montersor and Paine are at Paine's house to talk and change Montersor's mind about taking revenge on Fortunato for installing him and Montersor's snake so Paine is having a intervention with Montersor.
Fortunato made me so mad and I want revenge on him.
why do you want to get revenge on Fortunato?
Because Fortunato called me stupid and that I have bad taste in fashion and he called my pet snake stupid and a bad pet to have even though my pet snake eats all the rodents in my house and is friendly.

That's mean but its not like he used physical insults so you don't either just tell him how it made you feel and talk with him about what happened and sort it out with him and come to a agreement together without sorting to violence.

it was probably him trying to give you advice and warn you about the dangers of snakes and you interpreted it the wrong way.
I guess that could be a possibility thanks for talking to me with my problems I will talk with him without hurting him.
