- Your world is as big as you make it.I know, for I used to abideIn the narrowest nest in a corner,My wings pressing close to my side.
- Who am I kidding? Girls who look like me aren't good at sports.
- I wish they'd pick me .
- STANZA TWO
- But I sighted the distant horizonWhere the skyline encircled the seaAnd I throbbed with a burning desireTo travel this immensity.
- I'm going to prove them wrong....
- STANZA THREE
- Who is ready to play?
- I battered the cordons around meAnd cradled my wings on the breeze,Then soared to the uttermost reachesWith rapture, with power, with ease!
- I'm ready!
- Lines: 4Rhyme Scheme: A it B abide C corner B asideMeaning: The poet tells about being constrained to something and not being able to succeed in life. The 'wings' (bird) symbolize the person's abilities and how they are not being utilized.
- Lines: 4Rhyme Scheme: A horizon B sea C desire B immensityMeaning: The poet discovers a goal that she desperately wants to accomplish. The 'horizon' symbolizes the goal.
- Lines: 4 Rhyme Scheme: A me B breeze C reaches B easeMeaning: The poet dives into accomplishing her goal. She is not held back by anything. She enjoys succeeding.
