Hurricanes form when warm moist air over water begins to rise. The rising air is replaced by cooler air. This process continues to grow large clouds and thunderstorms. A Tropical Storm is when that area of low pressure continues to deepen and has winds between 39-74mph.
As a hurricane moves in the direction of the land the winds can pick up speed and become more destructive.
Once it hits the land any buildings on the shore will be ripped down like lighthouses or beach houses.
The best thing to do during a hurricane is try and evacuate.
You can try and take shelter in a place like bathroom or closet. Or even get on the roof of your house.
Hurricanes can cause millions of dollars of damage and kill people.
