- Irving then realized he needed to use the bathroom. The waste product of the apple leaves the body through the anal canal.
- Cellular respiration takes place in humans, animals, and other life forms. Respiration is when cells make energy by breaking down food. This takes place in the mitochondria and cytoplasm of the cells. Carbon dioxide and water are products of cellular respiration.

- Irving then leaves the apple core in the grass. He is distracted by the cutest stray cats anyone had ever seen playing in the street. They are playing just out of frame, unfortunately. If only others could see them. But they can't.

- Photosynthesis
- Photosynthesis is the process of plants using sunlight to create nutrients for themselves and oxygen, which is released into the air.
- After a few months, the apple core had been absorbed into the soil (the apple's seeds had fallen into the street, and were not in the soil). What was left of the apple had decomposed into the soil, and the small tree in someone's backyard had been using photosynthesis.
- Light energy, carbon dioxide, and water are reactants of photosynthesis. The chlorophyll in chloroplasts absorbs light energy and converts it into chemical energy to create a sugar called glucose. Oxygen is released as a byproduct of photosynthesis into the air.
