- The Third Estate created the National Assembly, after realizing that any attempt at reform would be out voted by the First and Second Estate. They held their meetings in an indoor tennis court and took The Tennis Court Oath, vowing to continue meeting until the king would meet their demands
- Rise of Napoleon
- The National Assembly created the National Guard in order to protect the people from the French military. The National Guard stormed the Hôtel des Invalides in order to take their rifles. They got the rifles but didn't find any gunpowder. The Bastille had gunpowder. The National Guard stormed the Bastille, stealing the gunpowder, and putting Governor de Launy's head on a pike
- Fall of Napoleon
- I don't think they like you.
- In September of 1793, spies and secret police were everywhere. The public had to be careful of what they said, any criticism of any kind of the system or government can get these people executed. Even small offences can have the same effect. Around 40,000 people were killed because of this.
- On October 5 in 1795, Royalists fought the National Guard in the streets. Napoleon was in Paris at the time and took control of the crowd. For these actions, Napoleon was mad a general and was in charge of the army in Italy. In 1796, Napoleon and his troops were able to knock Austria out of the war.
- Leave that man alone!
- When Napoleon returned to Paris he found out he was very popular with the people, which then gave him power hungry ideas. Napoleon dissolved the Government and made a new constitution that made him a dictator. After many failed military campaigns and the failure to capture Russia, Napoleon fell from power in 1814.
