on Mainland China, it is ruled by communists, then in the 1950's the communists set up an unlimited government, which they took control over businesses, and industries
on the island of Taiwan, they had a Nationalist government, later called the Republic of China. Taiwan similarly to a communist government, had limits on citizen's rights, but that was later changed for the freedom of speech by 1970.
during the Cultural Revolution, people that like doctors, and teachers were ordered to work on a farm, kids were also taken from school to work, Mao wanted to get rid of anything that wasn't representing communism
