- The gang misses you, but your parents haven't asked about you.
- While Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally are eating, Dally tells Ponyboy and Johnny how the gang misses them, and Johnny asks Dally if his parents miss him. Dally tells him that his parents have not asked about him, which makes Johnny upset.
- Where am I?
- You're in an ambulance. Johnny and Dally are behind us.
- As the 3 of them are driving back to the church from Dairy Queen, they notice that the church has caught fire. Johnny and Pony immediately realize that the fire must've been started by them, by most likely accidentally a lit cigarette. They see a large group of people near the church. One of them shouts that some of the children have been missing.
- Without thinking, Ponyboy and Johnny arrive as quick as a bolt at the scene and hop through the window in search of the kids. Both of them find the kids, but Darry yells to them to come out quickly before the roof caves in. One by one, they toss child after child outside of the window. Barely escaping and almost keeling, the roof caves in. Pony is unconscious, but Johnny is still in danger. Dally goes to rescue Johnny.
- As Ponyboy wakes up, he hears sirens as loud as a whale. He then is informed that he is in an ambulance, and Johnny and Dally are also in ambulances behind them.
- When Pony is at the hospital, he is checked and he has some burns and a enormous bruise on his back. Unfortunately, Dally and Johnny are not in good condition compared to him.
- When Ponyboy is in the waiting room, Darry and Sodapop finally arrive. Darry gives Pony a huge hug, telling him how much he missed him. Darry says that he doesn't want to lose another loved one, like his mom and dad.
