- Then, he manages to attend a hotel room. As he does so,he witnesses a couple spitting drinks into each other’s faces. He begins to judge them and see them as perverts. This proves the theme of loneliness since it shows that his judgemental attitude towards individuals makes it hard for him to form suitable connections with strangers,therefore keeping him isolated.

- After that, he begins to feel sensual urges,pushing him to call Faith Cavendish to go on a date with her,hoping she might be interested in him. This shows a sign of loneliness as he attempts to have companionship with Faith,desiring for her validation,which highlights i need for companionship .

- Then,Holden manages to enter the hotel as he takes off his hat because he doesn't want anyone thinking that he is crazy.This shows a sign of loneliness as he wants people to validate him as an ordinary person due to his lack of companionship.
