Nope, they wanted a complete system update! Modernism is a stream of thought that strives to replace all traditionalist thinking so it actually fits our "modern" situation

Exactly! it was a massive movement of resistance to religion. It was born out of the ideology of secularism that started back in the Rennaisance

They started using emerging methods of modern knowledge: rational, empirical, scientific, and logical thinking

Right? modernism was basically history's way of hitting "refresh button" out of human knowledge
