The Catcher in the Rye

Exposition
Holden is 16-year-old boy who is currently in his school Pencey Prep. He finds this school really phony compared to what the school advertises. He thinks everyone is a phony. Holden also wears a red hunting hat that symbolizes the isolation he feels from society.
Holden: Yeah, yeah I'll write your god damn composition for you.
Thanks Holden. Just as long as it's descriptive as hell.
Get off of me your moron.
Conflict
Holden and Stradlater get into a intense argument which ends up with both of them getting physical with each other. He later on plans to leave his school and try to find his way in life. A theme that occurs from here goes back to how Holden
You asked for it, God damn it.
Rising action
After the fight with Stradlater, Holden decides to leave Pency Prep and start a "better life" in New York. Holden takes a cab to one of the bars he used to go to and questions the driver where all the ducks go during the winter. The ducks are in a way a symbol of freedom as Holden wants to leave his depressing life but can't seem to.
