The Thousand and One Nights

Shahrayar & Shahzaman were brothers who ruled separate kingdoms.
Shahrayar ruled in India & Indochina...
and Shahzaman ruled in Samarkand.
Shahrayar missed Shahzaman so he sent his vizier to request a visit.
Shahzaman wanted to say farewell to his wife and was shocked when he found her with a kitchen boy.
After murdering his wife & the kitchen boy, Shazaman went to the vizier's camp & informed him that they must depart immediately.
When Shahzaman arrived, Shahrayar showered him with generous gifts including his own private quarters in the palace next to his.
Shahzaman kept himself busy spending time with his brother during the day but found it difficult not to think of the betrayal he suffered at night.
Shahrayar couldn't help but notice Shahzaman's sadness which he attributed to homesickness so he invited Shahzaman to go hunting but he declined.
Shahzaman was taking in the beauty of the garden from his bedroom window when his sister-in-law entered with 20 female slaves.
He could not believe his eyes when half of them removed their clothes & were in fact men who proceeded to have sex with the other slaves...
...and then his sister-in-law summoned another slave named Ma'Sud to have sex with her.
To his shock & surprise, this was the moment that Shahzaman started to feel better because he realized he was “no longer alone in [his] misery” (611).
