  • A gathering held by many communities. Traditionally religious ceremonies to gain wisdom from and give thanks to the Creator. A modern powwow is an event for Native people to dance, sing, socialize and honor their rich culture.
  • Calendars made by painting pictographs on bison hide to record important events by Native Americans in North America. The Blackfeet, Mandan, Kiowa, Lakota, and other Plains tribes used winter counts extensively.
