John Adams was born October of 1735 to Deacon John Adams and Susanna Boylston. He was one of three children, and cousins with Samuel Adams.

In 1755 he graduated Harvard College, having studied law instead of ministry.
He defended the British officers involved in the Boston Massacre.

In 1764 he married Abigail Smith, they had 6 children, 4 of whom lived to adulthood.
1774-He was a Massachusetts representative in the First Continental Congress.
