Why did our boat sink but yours didn't?
That is because objects like boats and ships can carry only a limited amount of mass without sinking. If this amount is exceeded then the object will sink.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND...
Density is defined as mass per unit volume.When the upthrust of water is greater than the density of the object,the object will float. But when the density is more than upthrust of water, the object sinks.Therefore objects with density less than water will float in it. As the density in your boat increased due to large number of people,it sank.
Therefore while some objects float in water others sink.
