Find new and exciting Florida facts using kid-friendly research tools. Guide students to trusted websites or books and have them each share one unique fact with the class. This builds research skills and keeps content fresh!
Use a simple chart or mind map to help students sort their Florida facts into categories (nature, history, attractions, etc.). This makes it easier for students to choose which facts to illustrate and summarize on their storyboard.
Demonstrate building one storyboard cell from start to finish. Show students how to write a heading, add a summary, and select an illustration. This gives clear expectations and supports visual learners.
Invite students to share a favorite storyboard cell with a partner or small group. This sparks creativity and helps students see different ways to present their facts.
Showcase student work on a bulletin board or wall. Celebrate their discoveries and allow everyone to learn new facts about Florida together. This builds classroom community and pride in their work!
Florida is full of fun facts for kids! For example, it’s home to Walt Disney World, the world’s most visited tourist attraction; St. Augustine is the oldest permanent city in the U.S., founded in 1565; and the state has more alligators than anywhere else in the country.
To create a storyboard about Florida’s interesting facts, have students choose three facts, write each as a heading, summarize them in their own words, and draw a matching illustration for each fact in a three-cell storyboard format.
Florida is known as the Alligator State because it has a large population of alligators living in its many swamps, lakes, and rivers, making it famous for these reptiles.
The oldest permanent city in the United States is St. Augustine, which is located in Florida and was founded in 1565 by Spanish explorers.
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is special because it is the number one tourist destination in the world, attracting millions of visitors every year with its theme parks and resorts.
