Retelling stories helps students deepen comprehension and build confidence in their speaking skills. Creative retelling encourages them to use their imagination while practicing key story elements.
Have each student pick a character from The Frog Prince—such as the king, the frog, or even a palace servant—and retell the story from that character’s point of view. This builds empathy and critical thinking skills.
Ask your students to jot down the main events (beginning, middle, end) as their chosen character experienced them. Encourage them to consider feelings, motivations, and observations unique to that character.
Suggest that students include some dialogue or thoughts their character might have had. This makes the retelling more engaging and helps students practice expressive language skills.
Let students present their retellings to the class, in small groups, or through a recording. Invite peers to ask questions or share what they learned about the story from a new perspective.
The Frog Prince is about a princess who loses her golden ball in a pond. A frog helps her get it back after she promises to be his friend. When she keeps her promise, the frog turns into a prince, and they live happily ever after.
Guide students to identify the beginning (princess loses her ball and meets the frog), the middle (frog visits the palace and the princess learns about keeping promises), and the end (the frog becomes a prince). Have them write or draw a short description for each part.
Include the princess losing her golden ball, the frog retrieving it in exchange for friendship, the frog joining her at the palace, and the transformation of the frog into a prince after the princess honors her promise.
