- As Travis sits and watches the track team run, he thinks about his behavior recently, and remembers his mom telling him he needs to be involved with something at school. He remembers her telling him that she is tired of his poor attitude all the time.
- Travis calls the track coach over to ask him about joining the team for his mother. The coach tells him if he gets in some running clothes he can start today.
- As a member of a team it allows Travis to be focused on something. Being focused on something allows his mind to feel committed to something. He is also involved and that will distract him as well.
