- Mrs. Jones catches Roger trying to steal her pocketbook and he falls down. Mrs. Jones asks him " dont you have anyone to wash your face?" and she tells him she will take him to her apt for him to wash his face.
- She drags him all the way back to her house by the neck with him dragging his legs on the floor.
- Mrs. Jones tells Roger to wash his face and she will make him supper.
- Roger decides to trust mrs. Jones and doesnt run away.
- Roger offers to help mrs. Jones, they eat a meal together, she doesnt put him on the spot and talks to him about her job. She asks him what he was trying to get out of stealing her pocketbook, the boy said he wanted blue suede shoes. Mrs. Jones said " well if you wanted money you could have just asked me."
- Mrs. Jones gave him the $10 for his shoes and sent him on his way. Roger never saw Mrs. Jones again.
