- the dog was sick and it made everyone feel threatened

- once the law arrives he hands the gun to Atticus and tells him to kill the dog
- Here take it.
- Atticus kills the dog with perfect accuracy
- Scout and Jem are surprised at their dad because they thought he was a boring old man

- Calpurnia explains to scout why Atticus never uses his gift of dead shot accuracy
