  • Dorothea Dix was born on April 4, 1802. She was best known for being the superintendent of nurses for the union army during the civil war.
  • Dorothea was only 39 when she took the job to teach the inmates at east Cambridge Prison in 1841.

  • Dorothea was a famous nurse who fought for the rights of individuals with mental illnesses. She later on shared her war experiences and wrote about them.
