- John Adams loses the election in 1800 to his rival Thomas Jefferson.
- yayyyyy! I won!
- John Adams gave federalists jobs.
- John Adams promised William Marbury the federalist justice of peace when he was still president but Thomas Jefferson appointed John Marshall justice of peace.
- Can't believe I didn't win my case because the court and Marshall thought it was unconstitutional!
- Madison refused to install Marbury as Jefferson's press. So Marbury sued. Because he couldn't sue the government, he decided to sue Madison. The caseblishedhe way to the Supreme Court. The court decided that the law Marbury was sueing was unconstitutional and the court established the Judicial Review. the Three Government Branches are now balanced.
- Jefferson and Madison are angered by the court's seizure of power but since the court ruled on their behalf the could hardly fight the decision.
- Marbury vs. Madison solidified the United States' system of checks and balances and gave the Judicial Branch equal power with the Executive Branch and Legislative branches.
