  •  "He seemed all head with a tiny body which was red and shriveled like an old man's." (Hurst 316)  This reveals that William is dependent on everyone around him. He was born with a lot of medical problems so his family will need to take care of him.
  • Effects on others: Narrator 
  • "Then mom began to cry."
  •       "I'm going to teach you how to walk, Doodle." (Hurst 313)  This reveals that the narrator is embarrassed because his brother can't walk and he's going to teach him how to walk but that might not work.

  • "All you have to do is try"    (Hurst 318) This reveals that the Narrator is hopeful because he's confident that his brother can walk. 
  • " Then mom began to cry."  (Hurst 318) This reveals that William is a hard worker and trys to walk even if it's hard. 
  • "He was burdened in many ways." (Hurst 317) This reveals that the narrator is annoyed with brothers problems. He is getting tired of always taking Doodle with him and having to care to need for him."
