In 1854 Lincoln declared that slavery was wrong or evil and that it went against the Declaration of Independence.
Lincoln became Senate and made many different speeches like "house divided" where he said that "This Government cannot endure, permanently have slaves and half free."
When Lincoln became the 16th President of the United States the southern states left and became the Confederate States of America.
The start of the Civil war began and Lincoln became a Civil war leader.
On July 1st, 1863 Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that freed all of the slaves.
