  • Louis XIV had left France in deeply i debt. To solve the financial crisis, the government would have to increase taxes  & reduce expenses. The legislative body consisting of representatives of the three estates, before making any changes. Louis called Estates General meeting.
  • The March On Versailles
  • We want to see the king!
  • Third Estate declared themselves National assembly . A few days later, the National Assembly found it´s meeting hall locked and guarded. They moved to a nearby indoor tennis court.
  • The Reign Of Terror
  • No more monarchy!
  • The City of Paris seized the spotlight from the National Assembly Meeting in Versailles. More Than 800 Parisians were outside of the Bastille. The crowd demanded weapons and gunpowder believed to be stored there.
  • The Rise Of Napoleon
  • Bloody banner of tyranny!
  • Children of the fatherland!
  • 6 thousand women marched 13 miles from Paris to Versailles in the rain. They were screaming ¨ Bread¨. They demanded to see the king.They refused to leave Versailles until the king had met their demands.
  • The region or terror was a period during the French Revolution emanating from conflicts between the Girondins and the Jacobins. Both the Jacobins and the Girondins supported the end of the monarchy.
  • From the port city of Marseilles, troops marched to a rousing new song.It urged the ¨children of the fatherland to march against the "bloody banner of tyranny¨
