The Spartan king and his 300 men went to defend Thermopylae . The Persians killed every single man. The Spartans willingly sacrificed them selves for the greater good. While the rest of the army retreated and prepared for the Persians

Themistocles tricked Xeres into believing that they were retreating. The huge Persian ships followed them into a narrow stream off the coast of Salamis. The Persian ships were to large to fit in the narrow stream unlike the Athenians. The Athenian Navy kept smashing the Persian boats.

The Athenians and their allies defeated Xeres army for the last time at the Battle Of Plataea in 479 B.C.E
Athens created the Delian League. Athens rebilt their city and experienced it's Golden Age.
