- Lupita Manana
- Lupita Manana Ensenada, Mexico
- They called her Lupita Manana because she always dreamed of a better tomorrow.
- Ensenada, Mexico
- NO! And you will not date my daughter!
- My name is Salvador. I would like to take my father's place on the boat so I can support my family.
- Lupita & Salvador's Mom tell them that she wants them to go to California to live with Aunt Consuela so they can work and send money home.
- They start the walk to enter America as illegal immigrants. Lupita disguiesed as a boy.
- They make it to Tijuana. Meet Tomas a guy who takes money and promises to get immigrants to the border. Salvador spies on Tomas to learn how to get to border without paying.
- Lupita & Salvador hide in the truck to get to the border. The American border bandits attack the truck and kill and old man.
- Police arrest all the men and let the women and kids go back to Mexico.
- Vegetable Truck
- Salvador runs into a friend from home and he takes them across the border.
- Tijauna
- Another immigrant helps them hide in a train car to get to the city but the immigrant, Rosario, gets arrested. Lupita & Salvador stay hidden and leave on the train.
- When the train stops, they meet Hector Espisito (mexican/american) He warns them that because they don't speak English, they will be targeted by the immigration police. He introduces them to his brother Rodrigo who gives them work.
- Lupita worked as a maid in a hotel. Her roomate was Concha, another illegal immigrant. Lupita had to pay rent and pay for fake American work papers.
- Immigration is always looking for them. So they leave in the middle of the night to go find their Aunt's house in another city.
- They reach Consuelo's house and realize she has been lying about her life and she really doesn't live in a good neighborhood but decides to let them stay if they pay rent.
- Their Uncle finds them work in the fields. It is very hard work and they are very disappointed. But keep working.
- Salvador meets Lucky, His uncle's grandson. He is a cool kid and Salvador wants to be like him. Lucky takes Salvador under his wing .
- Salvador is forced to bring Lupita to the Valentines dance. He doesn't want to be seen with her so he leaves her with his friend that doesn't want to be with her either.
- Salvador get arrested and sent back to Mexico
- Lupita hides and is not found. She is worried about her brother.
- But promises her aunt that she will stay with her and continue working in the fields.
- Lupita is homesick and misses her family. She decides that she needs to be strong and start learning English so that she can be accepted in her new home , the United States of America.
