Storyboard Text

  • I don't want to go to school.
  • Suck it up, sweetie, none of us do.
  • Ugh, I don't understand why my parents couldn't let me have one day, JUST ONE DAY, off from school! We are just learning the exact same thing EVERY DAY!
  • Well, my parents say it's because school is a commitment, which are important. Something about keeping up with your classes and studies.
  • Hush, it's what my parents want; good grades. Now let's go, we have stupid music class.
  • For someone who says they "hate" school, you sure are good at it.
  • I don't know, I just kept with it, I guess I sorta like it, and it could be helpful in the future. It just became a commitment for me, I guess.
  • So you say you "hate" piano, but you keep learning to play it???
  • Maybe you're right. I mean, school is a commitment, in the sense of actually working hard, and showing up. Piano is a commitment I've kept, and grown to like. And right now is a commitment, helping the teachers with the younger students. I've been volunteering forever, even when I didn't want to.
  • I don't think you've realized it, but you have a lot more commitments in your life then you realize; ones you've chosen, and ones that you haven't even realized you keep.
  • You were right earlier today. Commitments are important, whether we like them or not. Me being committed to all of these things that I didn't even realize I was committed to, it'll all be worth it someday because it shows that I keep my word. I said I would do something, and I kept doing it.
  • That is the exact point I was trying to make! They are important parts of our lives because they show parts of our personalities: what we are committed to, if we keep with it, and so one. I knew you'd figure it out! I was committed to helping you learn, see? Commitment.
