  • Ha!
  • The Persian wars started when King Darius of Persia, wanted to conquer Greece. The first of the wars was at Marathon.
  • Persia had about 90,000 men, while Greece only had 10,000 to 20,000 men.
  • Persia had archers, but they were useless against the Greeks strong metal shields.
  • We'll be back..... and in larger numbers.....
  • While the archers were shooting at the Greeks, the Greeks thinned out their formation and extended the lines to be able to attack all of the Persian warriors.
  • The battle of Marathon was won by the Greeks. According to legend, 6,400 Persians were dead, and only 192 Greeks.
  • The remaining Persians fled back to Asia, but next time, they would be back in greater numbers.
