  • Augustus's only allies were Marc Antony and Lepidus. Together, the three of them created The Second Triumvirate where they shared supreme power in Rome.
  • Yet, Marc Antony and Lepidus turned against Augustus and challenged him for the throne.
  • Allies!
  • But guys...
  • We deserve the throne, not you.
  • Augustus had his most important battle against his ex allies. Augustus was able to defeat Lepidicus, but Augustus still had to battle Marc Antony and his new ally, Cleopatra in the battle of Actium.
  • The battle is over, and I have won.
  • In the end, Augustus managed to defeat Marc Antony and Cleopatra. As a result, Marc Antony and Cleopatra committed suicide.
  • Augustus was able to positively influence his people by bringing peace to Rome, and rebuilding Rome. Augustus is often credited for The Pax Romana, 200 years of peace and prosperity in Rome. 
  • Wow, I'm great.
  • Throughout his whole life, Augustus was named Octavian. However after  becoming the rightful ruler of Rome, the senate gave Octavian his final name, Augustus.
  • Augustus built roads, bridges, buildings, strengthened the army, and conquered land around the Mediterranean sea.
