Act 3, Scene 4 Appearance vs. Reality
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth then greet all of their guests and have them sit. Macbeth talks of how much of a shame it is Banquo couldn't make it. One of the lords says how Banquo has broken a promise to Macbeth.
This part of the scene portrays a big part of the theme Appearance vs. Reality. As Macbeth's guilt grows, he thinks he sees Banquo's ghost, but he is dead. The lords try to dismiss themselves believing his highness is ill.
Lady Macbeth then dismisses the lords as Macbeth is still distraught and confused. Lady Macbeth attempts to get Macbeth's senses back with her frustration. This scene shows a big example of Appearance vs. Reality.
