  • Women's rights movement
  • I think we should be able to vote, wear what we want and have the same religious freedoms that men have.

  • During the Women's Rights movement, many women would gather together in an area and talk about what rights they should have. When they were talking about rights, they started to think that they should just have all of the rights that men had. Most of the women were upset that they couldn't vote on a president or anyone else that would need an election to be voted in.

  • I feel ya girl! It is so upsetting that we can't choose who runs our country!
  • When many of the black freed slaves migrated up north, they started to realize all of their talents and they would use those talents to earn a living. Many of the people started off showing their talent just sitting out on the street, and when people started to notice them and their talent, they were inspired to start their own bands.

  • Who wants to hear a joke? When I moved up here, I was able to start making jokes!
  • People that were afraid of their living situation in Europe immigrated over to the US or at least attempted to. The US stopped immigration a lot for most of the people who were seeking refuge. The reasoning for this is the spread of communism. Communism was on the rise enough with US citizens, and the government feared that if they let anyone from Europe into the US, they would spread communism.

  • Women would be talking to each other a lot when they were out in public about the rights that they wanted. They would be standing outside for hours on end just talking about their rights, or lack of. When they were done they would go home and then go out the next day to a convention to talk about it more. They were really upset at the lack of rights that they had.
  • When black people from farms moved up north, they were granted the freedom of speech, among many other rights as well. Something that was weird and that they weren't used to was being able to talk to white women without being imprisoned or killed. Many of the migrants used the freedom of speech to portray their talents and made comedy nights and other types of entertainment.

  • The US started to put more security on the borders of Canada and Mexico. They built stronger fences and put more guards on the borders to stop the immigrants from getting in. Since there was the Red Scare, the US was in fear that communists would overthrow the country, and believed most immigrants to be communists trying to spread the plague that is communism in.
  • I can't. We can't let Communists into the country.
