  • The Mexican American War
  • There was a dispute between Mexico and the U.S. on where Mexico's northern border would be. General Zachary Taylor was ordered to lead his army to settle the dispute.
  • Why couldn't Mexican diplomats take the 30 million dollars and get rich off the sale of land
  • CONFLICT BREAKS OUT
  • War begins between the U.S. and Mexico. At first the U.S. has the better equipment but they are greatly outnumbered and poorly prepared
  • If getting the land was an important objective and they had better equipment, why couldn't the U.S. make sure their soldiers were properly prepared?
  • WAR BEGINS
  • In 1846 there was the Bear Flag revolt and Americans declared California an independent nation.
  • Why did they fight in Sonoma and not closer to the border?
  • THE BEAR FLAG REVOLT
  • General Winfield Scott led the U.S. army to Mexico City were the war ended and the U.S, was victorious.
  • Why couldn't the Mexicans surrender to decrease the loss of life instead of keep fighting?
  • WAR ENDS
