Once upon a time there was a regular 14 year old girl named Jennifer who had almost finished year 8. She lived in Adelaide, South Australia with her 36 year old mother, Jane. Sadly, her father Jack died in a car crash almost a whole year earlier. Jennifer missed her dad so much. He gave her a nickname when she was only four that she would cherish forever, the name was Jen. Her mother was extremely sick and needed serious medical attention.
Jennifer decided to call a doctor to come over to see if they would have any idea on how to make her mother healthy again. The doctor arrived five minutes after the phone call and he had no solution on how to cure Jane so, Jen decided to go find help somewhere else. Jennifer went on a journey to look for help.
Jane told Jennifer “it’s too late for me and you shouldn’t waste your time trying to fix me.” Jennifer refused to listen to her own mother because she didn’t want to lose her as well. Jen starts to pack for the journey she was about to take off but she needed to clear her head so she went for a walk. Jennifer was thinking so much that she wasn’t concentrating on what she was doing and accidently bumped into someone. His name was Lachlen, Jen apologized and kept walking without turning back. Lachlen watch her walk until she turned the corner and then he continued to walk as well. Jen got home and was almost ready, she was tired so she went to sleep.
Unfortunately, there was one more day left of school so Jen had caught the bus there to finish her last day of year 8. She was so overwhelmed with everything that was going on in her life, she just wanted to go home. A girl who was new this term of the school year named Kate had came up to Jennifer and knew everything that she was thinking, Jennifer asked “How do you know that my mum is sick and that I’m searching for help?” Kate replied with a whisper saying “I can read minds.” Jennifer was so shocked that she thought it couldn’t be true but Kate said “I’m not lying either, think of a colour and I will tell you which one you are thinking of.” “Alright” Jen replied. Jennifer was thinking of her mum’s favourite colour (hot pink). “You’re thinking of your mum’s favourite colour, which is hot pink.” “Okay, I definitely believe you” Jennifer said with a smile.
Kate wanted to help Jennifer find help for her mum so, off they went. They ran into the same man that Jen bumped into earlier (Lachlen). He gave them an offer they couldn’t refuse. He persuaded them to find an old lady who had a very expensive rock that he wanted for himself. The rock was purple with a slight tinge of yellow to it. He wanted them to find it and bring it back to him in one piece and once they bring it back, he will trade them the cure for the rock. The girls agreed to his evil deal and started to search.
Kate found something attached to a branch on a tree, it was just swaying in the air. It was a piece of paper and as Kate got closer to it she realised that it was a map. She yelled “JEN! JEN! I FOUND A MAP!!” Kate grabbed the map and showed it to Jennifer. Jennifer pointed to the old lady on the map and said “That’s her! That’s the old lady, let’s go.”
