- John White, our governor, left to England to get supplies for us. But that was nearly a year ago, and he hasn't returned to us yet!

- ELISA: The Roanoke colony was made up of a few families who were sent to settle in an area somewhere around North Carolina. The leader of these English settlers was John White, who was sent back to England to restock on supplies for the settlers in 1588.

- LIESEL: I am a child in the Roanoke colony and we live in a very normal way. We farm and trade, but the soldiers who lived here before us were not on good terms with the native tribe who lives nearby and now we live in constant fear of them.
- LIESEL

- ELISA: I'll continue now. So although the Roanoke colony lived relatively well, the native tribe were getting more and more upset because the English no longer had supplies and were stealing theirs.
